Glasgow has some great ghost signs, and this collection features some of my favourites. They come from a range of locations including old factories, pubs, shops, tenements and even a former police station.

You can buy this photo collage as print from my online shop at https://www.thisismyglasgow.com/product/glasgow-ghost-signs-collage-print-mounted-size-10-inch-by-12-inch/.

This situation is replicated on the areas of wasteland, along railway tracks and on gap sites across the city. Many of these are privately owned spaces that continually spew plumes seeds across the city throughout the summer, where they lodge in cracks and crevices of our traditional buildings and then germinate. By the time this is noticed, the plants are probably already causing damage to the stonework with their roots.

It's that time of year again when buddleja starts to become much more visible as sprouts its bright purple flower spikes, and when this happens, it's not hard to see where the buddleja which infests many of Glasgow's historic buildings comes from. For example, just this small area of wasteland in front of the former Tobago Street Police Station is capable of producing hundreds of millions of wind-blown seeds every year.

What will the talk be about? Well, here's the official description:

Glasgow's history isn't just written in books or hidden away in museums, but is also written in the streets all around us and we pass reminders of it every day. However, all to often we miss it because we either don't know what we're looking at or, worse, we are too distracted by modern life to notice it at all.

Think history can only be learned from books? Think again. It can also be learned from the many features to be found on our streets.

Пре два дана сам започео израду нове верзије сајта за чување културно-историјског наслеђа Панчева. Овога пута, пројекат се шири и визија је да овај сајт буде централни сајт за више градова. Објављиваћу свој напредак овде.

There were also dragon's teeth just by London Road station in Guildford. I was fascinated by their raison d'être at the time and used to appreciate them every time I walked by.
