The main entrance of James Miller's magnificent 1903 offices for the North British Locomotive Company on Flemington Street in the Springburn area of Glasgow. It was later used as an engineering college, and then offices.

There were also dragon's teeth just by London Road station in Guildford. I was fascinated by their raison d'être at the time and used to appreciate them every time I walked by.

While not in Glasgow, this is all too common an outcome of buildings in the West of Scoland which have left unoccupied for long periods of time. I'm really not too sure what the solution to this is, but something does needs to be done to stop this sort of 'demolition by neglect' of our built heritage.

This rather beautiful B-listed Art Deco cinema with Italianate flourishes in Hamilton to the southeast of Glasgow is set to be demolished as it's been classified as unsafe. Designed by James McKissack, it opened as La Scala in 1921 and closed as a cinema around 1960. It has been empty since 1997.

Even if this wasn't possible, I'm sure something a lot more in keeping with the city's architectural and industrial heritage could have been built here instead, rather than these rather generic-looking tower blocks.

Whenever I see the Glasgow Harbour Development, I can't help but think it's a major missed opportunity. If the Meadowside Granary (demolished in 2002) could have been kept and turned into flats, it would have looked amazing, as well as being something unique to Glasgow.
