Bryan Slaton, a Republican lawmaker in Texas who wanted to ban drag shows to “protect kids from being sexually exploited”, has resigned after having sex with a 19-year-old intern he’d plied with alcohol. In a report, dated 6 May, the Texas House of Representatives general investigating committee unanimously recommended Slaton be expelled from the state legislature.
