Press Release: 3 Detained, Dozens Brutalized by ICE Agents in Collaboration with State and Local Police

Yesterday, Vermont law enforcement agents leveraged state power to support federal immigration agents in what we believe to be a clear violation of the state’s Fair and Impartial Policing Policy. Together, police and immigration officers violently separated families, ripped immigrant Vermonters from their home, and attacked protestors who bravely stood in solidarity with their neighbors. This marks a drastic escalation of longstanding patterns of human rights abuses and violence carried out against our community by local, state, and federal law enforcement. We demand the immediate release of Christian Jerez-Andrade, Camila Patin Patin, and Johana Patin Patin, as well as a thorough investigation into the officers’ misconduct and violations of Vermont’s Fair and Impartial Policing Policies. We also demand that any charges against protesters be dropped. Read more for the full press release.

Police Violence with Anabel - Arrest Documentation Unit Wed-03-Dec

It has been the most striking feature of current #political #repression in #Germany: #police #brutalizing #protesters with #extreme force. Especially in #Berlin, police violence against political #dissidents has become a regular occurrence. But what is behind this violence?

Anabel from the #Arrest #Documentation #Unit (ADU) will be joining R A R #live in the #studio to discuss the specific role and function that police violence fulfills within systemic #state repression in Germany today, starting with the repression of #Palestine #solidarity and expanding from #climate #activism to the police violence against #anti-AfD protesters in #Gießen this weekend.

ADU is one of the publishers of the report Repression Against Palestine Solidarity in Germany, which describes in great detail the different forms of repression utilized by the German state against Palestine solidarity protesters.

It’s not a big leap to see an application here. If fentanyl production or the existence of a Jefferson Davis statue can be legally deemed public nuisances, why can’t a deluge of #violent, #masked, & #armed people flooding the streets of a city, #maiming, #brutalizing, & even #killing along the way? This deluge is perhaps even closer to a classic public nuisance because it involves an activity that impedes the safe & orderly use of public streets.

A quotation from Hugo, Victor:

«
It is characteristic of this form of punishment, inspired by all that is pitiless, that is to say brutalizing, that gradually, by a process of mindless erosion, it turns a man into an animal, sometimes a ferocious one.
