Idk what their approach to song making is but it strikes me as exploratory. As if they're just doing their soulful thing, just walking along and sometimes,they stumble into something incredible. But they don't stop doing their walking to make a shrine in that grove. No, they keep on walking and keep finding something else. It does make it a loose and not necessarily perfect record but it's the apparent earnestness of their approach makes it special. I suspect part of it due to the large number of people involved but very notable.
