David - Forking MadCan anyone identify this young bird? It somehow got in the house but is now free in the garden again.
Clearly a youngster. It was very round - about the size of a table tennis ball. Very distinctive yellow/red markings on the head. White chest, with olive, brown and black feathers. Capable of flight but very small wings and almost no tail. A tiny beak.
I wondered if it was a Goldcrest, but i thought they were only yellow crested.
For context, I am in South West Scotland.
