Fayerweather Island Lighthouse (aka Black Rock Harbor Lighthouse), 12/30/23. This was the second stop on our Connecticut that day. This lighthouse is accessible by about a half-mile trek over a jetty, parts of which were a bit tricky to navigate—not gonna lie—but do-able. We were disheartened by all the graffiti on the jetty, and unfortunately the beautiful lighthouse itself was vandalized with tags. I chose not to photograph the sides with graffiti. The door to the lighthouse was open, so of course I went in! The staircase has been removed (second from last photo), presumably for safety reasons. The last shot is of the Penfield Reef Lighthouse. Not a great shot: it was getting dark, and the lens wasn’t cooperating, so it’s a little grainy and blurry. But it looks like a really cool lighthouse, and I look forward to visiting again and getting a better view. We also drove over to see the Tongue Point Lighthouse, but it was too dark at that point, and the photos didn’t come out.
