I was asked how I avoid printing unwanted marks from the studs when I print with lego. After watching a few linocut tutorials I saw some people working with masks for small parts in another color. And I applied this Idea to my lego prints. Here are a few photos, there are further descriptions in the alt text.

Design notes for the Hawfinch print. This is the stage where the overall design is just about done. Refining how and where the colours go often results in changes to the printing formes as well. A laborious but necessary back and forth to get the details just right.

This Starling from 2018 needed five (5!) separate print runs to create the desired result. I thought that was a lot back then. Little did I know that I would more than double that number towards the end of the series...
