I have always had bread sauce with christmas dinner and hope to continue this forever. However, it seems many have not heard of bread sauce, which is shocking news.

I'd be interested in seeing broader data so here's a Christmas dinner poll!

It has come to my attention that some people don't have #BreadSauce with their Xmas Dinner.
Why? I have no idea.
So here is a simple and delicious recipe

Ingredients
1 pint (568 ml/2 cups) milk
3-4 ozs (85-110 g/1½-2 cups) breadcrumbs
2 onions, each stuck with 6 cloves
2 ozs (55 g/stick) butter
salt and freshly-ground pepper
4-6 fl ozs (100-175 ml/-cup)thick cream

@TheGuardian I wish to add my support to Gill Empson and Neil Angrave (Brief Letters, Thursday 8th December and Wednesday 7th) in the preservation, promotion and enjoyment of #breadsauce as an essential element in a traditional Christmas dinner.
It is usually my job to bake a white loaf and allow it to go stale for turning into breadcrumbs, but not this year as we have some bought white finger rolls to use. The other traditional ingredients remain: onion, cloves, milk, salt & pepper.
