The Princess Hotel and Theater fire February 12 1929. The building interior was gutted at a loss of $60,000. Theodora Chase lost her life due to smoke inhalation.

Just 50 years ago, the old Chelsea House in West Brattleboro recorded and released an album that had a very big impact around here.

The 1970s brought great changes to the Brattleboro area's music community. John Clark started his first tour of duty at WTSA, Cap'n Bullfrog's record store opened in the Latchis building, Ralph and Pat Baker started up their Sound Hole musical instrument shop on Elliot Street, John and Tony arrived at Marlboro College, and the Chelsea House opened for a run of about seven years of concerts and folk dances. The release of this album, "Jacob's Reunion" on Chelsea House Records, was one of the biggest events.
