The historic state #racketeering charges were filed on August 14, 2023, by #FultonCounty, #Georgia, DA #FaniWillis, an elected Democrat who launched a lengthy investigation into Trump’s interference in the Georgia #election in early 2021.

The investigation began shortly after a January phone call became public in which #Trump pressured Secretary of State #BradRaffensperger, a fellow Republican, to “find” the votes necessary for him to win the state in the election.

At issue are 3 avowed supporters of #Trump who in May took control of the 5-member state #election board & immediately began passing a flurry of rules that prompted an uproar of criticism from state & local election ofcls & from #GOP & #Democrats.
…The Secy of State #BradRaffensperger & AG #ChrisCarr, both #Republicans, oppose the rules. Carr’s office issued an opinion stating that the board overstepped its authority by passing rules that go beyond what state #law allows.

Over the weekend, ProPublica reported that users of the portal had unsuccessfully attempted to cancel the registrations of 2 #Republican ofcls, Secy of State #BradRaffensperger & Rep #MarjorieTaylorGreene.

The flaw found by Parker was different from the 2 previously reported ones. This one would allow ANY user of the portal to bypass the screen that requires a driver’s license number & submit the cancellation request w/o it.
