🚨 Russian hackers target Signal and WhatsApp accounts of officials and military personnel.

The Dutch intelligence services ( #MIVD & #AIVD ) confirm a large-scale campaign using fake support bots to steal verification codes.

Three observations:
1️⃣ It is bizarre that politicians and high-ranking officials use commercial US apps (WhatsApp/Signal on AWS/Google servers) instead of a closed, government-owned system. Absurd.
2️⃣ I am glad that secure European alternatives like Session, Delta Chat, or Element/Matrix are excluded from this disaster.
3️⃣ Yet, they talk about "sovereignty" while ignoring these solutions, continuing to use American apps vulnerable to Russian hacking. This is our Europe.
