That's one small step for mankind, one giant leap for a man - feddit.org

It’s finally happened. After 14 years, over 700 consecutive days of daily use and 12,040 comments, I’ve deleted my Reddit account. Another step away from US tech giants, and further into the Fediverse. Even small steps count, so I can only encourage everyone to look around their own little world to see what alternatives there are to US products – particularly in the digital world, where there are now plenty of alternatives – often even better ones – if you look for them. How to stop spending money on US llms. - szmer

Has anyone tried in organization to use self hosted llm models for agentic programming? Im curious if it makes any sense. My organization spends fortune on tokens from US companies. I want to recommend something… I think that will be cheaper to use it on own machines instead…

Everything else aside, we do not call soccer football. Instead, ‘football’ is what we call the worst and most boring and most physically injurious sport in the entire world, known to you as American Football. Please don’t come here only to get shot downtown trying to watch a sport we don’t care about over here. I know this topic has passed, but I didn’t have a social media account back then.

8 Congressional Democrats Vote To Defund Schools That Support Trans People - Lemmy.ca

> On Tuesday, May 19, the U.S. House passed H.R. 2616, the “Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act,” by a vote of 217-198. The bill would hand the Trump administration enormous leverage to strip federal funding from any school that “teaches or advances concepts” related to transgender people, codifying into federal law the anti-trans definitions from Trump’s executive order 14168, “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism.” It would also require public schools to forcibly out transgender students to their parents before using their pronouns or chosen names. The bill is significant on its own terms for the harm it would inflict on transgender youth if it became law. But what made Tuesday’s vote especially notable was the eight Democrats who joined every Republican to pass it—the largest Democratic defection on any standalone anti-trans bill of this Congress.
