I learned on my last skein not to snap wet silk, so these are having a very gentle drip dry before they get hung in the bathroom window
they came out so pretty 😍
these keep getting better! there was not quite enough twist in the first ply on this one, it's verrrry soft. I am going to send the last bobbin of singles through the wheel again just to tighten up the loose bits. just fine tuning now ✨
bouclé is so charming. worth the effort, even if the first ply makes my ankles ache and my hands tired. the targhee in this should bounce up nicely.
this is the purple/pink end of the skein, less moody and tonal than the blue/purple end, more fun.
the bouclé keeps getting better. this is a mostly consistent thick single and three plies of binding thread - feels a lot sturdier and I think it balances better too. I don't know what I'm going to use this for but I can see it working out ok as an accent thread for weaving.
there is one trash batt left, I'm going to try to make a match for this skein. that'll be a good test for me.
this is two ounces of fiber. usually I can fit four on one of these bobbins. I wasn't sure I would even make it - weird to be playing bobbin chicken with so little fiber. makes me think this is going to be delightfully lofty once it's finished.
I'm glad I have a jumbo bobbin for the next plying step. I don't think it'll fit on a normal one.
and that's my first bouclé skein finished! there are things I would do differently next time - less contrasty binder yarn, a little less twist in the original single for a bit more fluff - but it will weave up nicely. now I just have to clean off a loom and think of a suitable project.
