In 1950s Russia, one of the only ways to hear blues, jazz and rock’n’roll from America was to bootleg a record pressed up on a discarded X-ray plate.

First invented by Ruslan Bogoslowski the bootlegs were pressed on thick radiographs found in hospital bins and then cut into rough discs, sometimes using a cigarette to burn the central hole. Bogoslowski would eventually spend five years imprisoned in Siberia for this innovation. #bonemusic #sovietunion #sovietrussia #bootlegseries

Bob Dylan - The Bootleg Series Vol. 17: Fragments: Time Out of Mind Sessions

Am I the only one who thinks that a crucial element is missing in the new mix? Without the production element of Daniel Lanois the album feels amputated. To me the original album is still one of the highlights of his career.

Sunday afternoon & I’m #NowListening to #Fragments, the latest installment from the #BobDylan #BootlegSeries.

This first disk from the Deluxe 10 LP #vinyl edition is a remix of the #album #TimeOutOfMind.

I’ve many thoughts regarding the set (mostly positive), but the remix is, for me, a highlight. I don’t see this as replacing the OG, but it does reveal elements otherwise hidden under the #Lanois treatment. This #RyanKSmith cut is spacious, rich & dynamic.
