#BooksRead2025 - 034 - "The Power" by Naomi Alderman

Considers what would happen if women developed a special electrical power within the world, and the cataclysmic changes that power shifts bring. FANTASTIC!

#BooksRead2025 - 033 - “Make Room for Love” by Darcy Liao

A trans woman and a butch lesbian fall in love while roommates in New York City. Great spice, swoony romance. Loved all the sub-plots related to union organizing.

#BooksRead2025 - 032 - “The Colorado Kid” by Stephen King

Written for Hard Case Crime and the loose basis for the show Haven, a frustrating tale about a body found on a Maine island by two high school kids, as told by two old newspaper men.

#BooksRead2025 - 031 - “Hell Followed With Us” by Andrew Joseph White

After Christian fundamentalists unleash a horrific body-altering virus, a trans boy escapes a religious compound and find connection with a queer survivalist community. Intense, graphic queer-affirming tale.

#BooksRead2025 - 030 - “The Maltese Falcon” by Dashiell Hammett

Sam Spade’s big adventure investigating his partner’s death and a mysterious statue making the rounds in San Francisco. Very dated, but foundational for the genre.

#BooksRead2025 - 029 - “Ready Player Two” by Ernest Cline

A strong sequel to the first novel, hitting the same nostalgic beats while expanding the universe even further. Still room to take it further if Cline wants.

#BooksRead2025 - 028 - “Baptism of Fire” by Andrzej Sapkowski

An exceedingly transitional story in The Witcher Saga. All the main characters wander around multiple battlefields attempting to stay alive. And mostly succeeding.

#BooksRead2025 - 027 - “Ready Player One” by Ernest Cline

As read by Wil Wheaton, the bestselling novel with more nerdy references than any other book I’ve read. For the lonely geek seeking connection.
