Book Expo America was once the most significant event in publishing in North America. This was an extravaganza centered on the traditional publishing world, featuring hundreds of booths, speakers, and tens of thousands of people. BookCon was open to the public and took place after the Book Expo concluded. BookCon featured authors signing autographs, with lines stretching hundreds of people. Swag was given out, and it was a grand time. Book Expo and BookCon were both cancelled in 2019, leaving a massive hole in the publishing world. If you're a fan of BookCon, there's some good news for the future of the event. The longtime organizers of BEA and BookCon, ReedPop, will host authors, publishers, brands, and, most importantly, fans, at the Javits Center in New York City on April 18th and 19th of 2026. In a statement to USA TODAY, ReedPop called the plans for the 2026 show a “wholly reimagined event.” BookCon will feature book signings, clubs and swaps, author talks, workshops, panels, crafting zones, and more. Historically, BookCon has been as star-studded as it has been packed with household-name bestsellers. Past celebrity authors and speakers have been included Nick Offerman, Amy Poehler, John Green, Jeff Kinney, Mindy Kaling, and Jodi Picoult. The organizers have just launched a new website where you can find out more information. Since this was just announced today, there is no information available on the cost or how to obtain media passes.
