I would just like to say a big THANK YOU to the first and incredibly generous supporters of our little #bono23 fundraiser. You folks are amazing! 🥰

(By the way, we update the progress bar manually in a minimalist way. So please bear with us. 😉)

📣 A belated yet important update on @marcthiele's and my border:none conference from last autumn: We've gathered memories and reviews for you, all documented on our website. Additionally, we share a transparent breakdown of the finances. Despite our efforts to minimize costs, we unfortunately concluded with a loss. We're reaching out for your support one last time, with an opportunity for you to secure a nice little bargain.
Thank you!

10 years ago, this funny Dutchman with his cowboy boots, unmistakable laugh and unflappable sense of humour was one of the biggest surprises for me personally. I'm always delighted to meet @vasilis, not least as part of my @a11yclub adventures. It took him less than 5 minutes to answer our question about a talk title: "10 years ago my talk was called 'Do we have to reinvent the wheel?' My talk now is called the same. But my answer to the question is different."

I knew before #bono23 that @rodneyrehm had discovered #paragliding in recent years. What I didn't realise, however, was how incredibly fearless this guy is. I have the utmost respect for it, and I also really enjoyed this trip far away from web and technology topics — albeit without being able to catch my breath.

Bringing Molly Barnes (aka Molly Watt) onto the border:none stage was an important matter for me personally. Even though her topics — #accessibility and #inclusion — are very serious and heavyweight, I don't know anyone else who can convey them with so much enthusiasm and humour. I am extremely grateful that Molly accepted our invitation without hesitation and was the first of the new #bono23 line-up to say yes.

10 years ago, at his #bono13 talk, @vitalyf was struggling with massive technical problems. This time, he delivered an extremely confident, highly informative presentation on a topic that is likely to be very exciting for many teams and projects: How can we measure design performance?

It was a great pleasure to have you on stage again, Vitaly!

She came from the far north to talk about something completely different to everyone else … Dagmar Dahl has an ice-cold hobby: she is a well-known ice swimmer and the first Norwegian swimmer to swim across the Saltstraumen Maelstrom. Where is the connection to other #bono23 talks? See for yourself!

10 years ago, @marcthiele and I couldn't give her a free ticket to border:none 2013. Today, Aya Jaff is so successful that she couldn't accept our invitation to the stage. And yet her message is so powerful. We are happy and truly grateful that Aya could at least be part of #bono23 with this video message.

Master of the overview and cross-connections: @adactio closed the first day of #bono23, which was characterised by very personal stories, with his usual solid, “genuine Jeremy” — and a small return to the origin of border:none, which has almost been forgotten a little: The Web. 😉

You can also find a full transcript of Jeremy's talk on his website: https://adactio.com/articles/20638

Of Time And The Web

A presentation from border:none held in Nuremberg in October 2023, ten years after the first border:none in 2013.

Truth be told, it wasn't easy to fulfil our own #diversity requirements for our #bono23 line-up — and to find the right speakers who could and wanted to support our cause. It's not just about gender or skin colour, age is also an issue. Sometime in early October, I woke up from a dream at 4 a.m. and thought: "I really have to ask Maya". Seeing the 15-year-old on our stage a little later and experiencing her first English-language presentation made me incredibly happy.
