mark sta anai've finally got a #smolweb setup that i like. i'm using #bombadillo to surfer gopher and geminispace (will share my bookmarks in a separate post). for toots, i'm using toot, if i'm grazing i'll switch to tui, but i have bunch of one-liners to just check the most recent toot for a selection of timelines (lists and tag groups). the bonus is that both these tools are very terminal friendly so they can happily live in a tmux session. #geminiprotocol #GopherProtocol

UmWerker 🕊 ☮️ 🤘Interesting tool discovered: With #Bombadillo I can move in the #gemini and #gopher world at the same time. It's fun, although useless rabble spread their dirt even in these two sparsely populated areas.
I think it's a shame that the two protocols stand in each other's way, even though both pursue a very laudable goal. In addition to #http, A purely text-based network would certainly make more sense.
Interessantes Tool entdeckt: Mit #Bombadillo kann ich mich zugleich in der #gemini, als auch #gopher Welt bewegen. Macht Spaß, obgleich auch in diesen beiden dünn besiedelten Bereichen nutzloses Gesindel seinen Schmutz verbreitet.
Schade finde ich, dass sich die beiden Protokolle gegenseitig im Weg stehen, obwohl doch beide ein sehr lobenswertes Ziel verfolgen. Neben #http EIN rein Text basiertes Netz wäre sicher sinnvoller.

🇲🇽@moribundo Es cuestión de enfoque. La primera vez que navegué por #gemini fue a través de #bombadillo (terminal), así que de estilos nada... ¡Pero fue lo que me enamoró del protocolo! Esa posibilidad de navegar desde cualquier dispositivo, haciendo que el contenido adquiera la apariencia que yo, como lector, quiera, según mi gusto, estado de ánimo, dispositivo a mano o la calidad de mi conexión a Internet (puedo hacer que las imágenes no se descarguen en automático).
@flan estoy usando #Lagrange en mi laptop con GNU/Linux, #bombadillo en una lap ancentral y #deedum en Android... Acabo de ver que @sl1200 usa Lagrange en Android y waprobar porque no sabía que se podía instalar desde F-Droid

The Gemini protocol was a big part of my COVID-19 lockdown experience. Discovering this underground, small protocol, having long discussions on the mailing list, and most importantly for me, developing software. My terminal Gemini browser, Amfora, was my first public FOSS project, something actually intended for a wider audience to use. It succeeded beyond my expectations (but within my hopes), and I’m proud to say it now has thousands of downloads.
