Boat of Garten Steam Rally
A balmy highland day at Boat of Garten railway station hosted a small but fascinating steam rally complete with steam trains and a variety of traction engines.

Boat of Garten is on the Strathspey railway, and the name comes from an ancient ferry across the river Spey.

Nice views at Loch Vaa this morning.

Beautiful Boxing Day walk from Aviemore to Boat of Garten and back. 13.5 miles in the snow has certainly blown away the cobwebs!

With Moray on the steam train this morning to Boat of Garten, coffee and fantastic home made cake at the Gashouse Cafe, then walk back via the Speyside Way (although we tend to use the quieter paths in the woods as the Speyside Way can be busy). And we saw the steam train on its way back.
