What Macron and Newsom said deserves to be picked up. I consider this a moment of serendipity in an otherwise already grim 2026.
Disclaimer: I do know that there is a serious but not political reason behind the sunglasses. I do not approve of all that Macron has said in the past. Gary Newsom is not even a European and I know nothing about him besides his Davos interview. Any form of European nationalism would be against my deepest inner feelings. I see Europe as a bunch of people that have still more than one brain cell left, who are able to feel empathy and care for each other.
