For an Alice in wonderland #ATC trade I carved a new stamp! The first time I used some kind of rubber (softcarve I think?). I usually work with cheap vinyl for my small scale stamps. I’m super happy with how it turned out! It’s my most intricate carve so far and the second time I carved a person (with a face shown, not counting masks).

#blockprinting friends, looking for advice:

the air is really dry here, especially in the winter, which leads to some difficulties, especially with getting good transfers, when using water based inks... which I have to use because i do not have the space to safely store/dry oil based ink prints.
(yes, i already use a retarder)

i came upon a semi solution of dampening my paper, which resulted in much better transfer, but unfortunately also warped my prints into modern art sculptures.

"Discover your inner artist! Create your own block printed cards and tote bag!

Join us for an afternoon of creativity! Block printing is a fun and easy way to create unique cards and decorate gifts, like cloth tote bags! Participants will leave with their block print, new skills, a set of their own handmade greeting cards, and a beautiful tote bag.

No experience required. All materials and some inspiration will be provided. We will have examples of block printing designs that relate to the flora and fauna of Maine which can be used to hand draw your own versions, or you can create from scratch! Stencils will also be provided. Ages 16+ Minimum of 5 registered participants to run."
