Been painting the Emporer's Champion this evening. It's my last unpainted miniature. I've been very self-controlled and only bought new miniatures once I've finished what I have. No grey piles of shame for me! (My next purchase will be a Redemptor Dreadnought.)

Sword brothers almost finished. These have taken MUCH longer than I thought. Not sure why. I only paint a little at weekends - but even so, they've been a challenge. Maybe I'm doing too much sub-assembly which then takes time putting together carefully when painted. Perhaps I'll try just completely assembling and see how I get on. I still read people online claiming they can paint a mini like this in 1-2 hours. I don't know how.

Up early and spraying sword brothers and an Emperor's Champion. I want to get much of the painting of these finished this weekend. My aim is to start the new year with no outstanding models to paint. Then buy a dreadnaught. No grey piles of shame around here!

The whole finished: crusader sword brother, initiates and neophytes. Next up are four (more) sword brothers. My aim is to finish the minis that I have (swird brothers and Emperor's Champion) and the get a dreadnought in the new year.

Finished initiates for the crusader squad. While painting these I realised how I've become more accurate with painting small details and being more confident in applying paint. I used to agonise about making mistakes but able to sort out when something goes wrong. With these I've also improved painting the eyepieces on the visors - which is a tiny thing but used to give me so much grief.

Worked on initiates this weekend. Made some progress in FINALLY finding a recipe for tabards I like as well as for leather (both of which I haven't felt I'd got quite right before). So I'm pleased with that. I should finish them next weekend - which will complete their crusader squad. I spent a long time trying to highlight... but it was SO awful I gave up and simply drybrushed the armour with a leadbelcher/dark reaper mix.
