This is a view of the snowy Cuillin range here on Skye. Although over 20 miles away from us they are a powerful presence. There are 12 Munros in there.

Munros in Scotland are mountains 3,000 ft (914.4m) or over.

“There are in total 282 Munros across Scotland. The highest Munro is Ben Nevis at 4,411 ft (1,345 m), though there are lower, but arguably more challenging Munros to climb, such as the 12 airy peaks of the Black Cuillin on Skye..”

Sligachan is a tiny settlement on Skye, at the head of Loch Sligachan. For some, it’s just a road junction with a few accommodation options often used as a base for climbing the nearby Cuillin mountains. Legend has it that the waters under Sligachan Old Bridge are enchanted and are a gateway to the faerie world. Should you be brave enough to dip your face in the water of the Sligachan River for a full 7 seconds, supposedly you will be granted eternal beauty by the faeries!

Sligachan est un lieu dit sur l’île de Skye, à la tête du Loch Sligachan. Pour certains, ce n’est qu’un carrefour routier avec quelques options d’hébergement, souvent utilisé comme base pour escalader les montagnes Cuillin à proximité. La légende raconte que les eaux sous le vieux pont de Sligachan sont enchantées et constituent une porte d’entrée vers le monde des fées.
