actually, that "wasting #youtube's resources" thing is pure spite and very unproductive. youtube as a platform has a lot of valuable cultural artifacts on it and it's very sad to see what were once the homes to so much human creative work gradually become so anti-human.
p.s. my conspiracy theory is that youtube only disallows purely a"i" generated videos so that youtube can be used as a training data set.

hello so like there are people who smoke and don't smell bad all the time. so like i guess to those people i'm sorry for the things i said. also socioeconomic factors blah blah it's not all a personal responsibility thing and not everybody has the means to "take a god damn shower" all the time and people do it because their lives suck anyway. yeah. so i still think smoking is gross and bad and i hate it and wish it didn't exist but i take back when i said that if you do it i hate you personally. kill ceos, not smokers.

which has informed me that apparently some people are trying to "boycott" #youtube for a single day, and this is apparently the same people who are using #invidious or #freetube, and that apparently some of these people are also treating these as actual youtube alternatives? tbh seems like either extreme stupidity or goomba fallacy.
but i'd like to clarify that i was recommending this for people who want to not-give-any-money-to-youtube for like, MORE than one day?? and also have stuff they want to watch on youtube?? and also this is better-than-nothing for people who don't want to just-not-watch-youtube?? because yes there are people who want to do something but can't just-not-watch-youtube because they are weenies?? and them doing something is better than them doing nothing?? obviously??
moreover if you're actually serious about "boycotting" youtube this should be treated as mostly transitional. actually find alternatives for some things, even if it's not a full replacement for "youtube." like a lot of my youtube usage was for music or a specific podcast, both of which i can get elsewhere which i am now doing.
p.s. if you are concerned about supporting creators, many of them have accounts you can donate to on services like patreon and ko-fi, which will make a much bigger difference than your ad revenue anyway.
