Remembering American stage & screen actress Mildred Dunnock born on this date in 1901. She was twice nominated for an Academy Award: first Death of a Salesman in 1951, then Baby Doll in 1956 - She was also nominated for 2 Golden Globes - Not an easy feat for a woman whose carrer was essentially that of a character actress. A founding member of The Actor’s Studio, some of her other big screen appearances were in The Trouble with Harry (1955), Peyton Place (1957), Butterfield 8 (1960) and Sweet Bird of Youth (1962) and she originated the role of Big Mama in Tennessee Williams’ play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. In 1991 she passed away, aged 90, from natural causes in Oak Bluffs, on Martha’s Vineyard, although at that time she was a resident of nearby West Tisbury #mildreddunnock #actress #rememberlegends #birthdayremembrance #oscarnominee #characteractress #goldenglobenominee #bestsupportingactress #deathofasalesman #babydoll #catonahottinroof #peytonplace #sweetbirdofyouth #jamesdean #stageactress #filmactress #film #bigscreen #filmworld #filmclips #tvclips #butterfield8 #troublewithharry #filmlegend #academyawardnominee
