Ein junger Uhu breitet seine großen, noch flaumigen Flügel aus, während er von einem Felsvorsprung startet. Sein weiches Jugendgefieder und die noch nicht vollständig entwickelten Federn sind deutlich sichtbar. Die kräftigen Fänge sind nach vorne gestreckt, bereit zur Landung oder zum Greifen. Die helle, zerklüftete Felswand im Hintergrund unterstreicht den natürlichen Lebensraum dieser imposanten Eulenart.

A juvenile Eurasian eagle-owl spreads its large, still fluffy wings as it launches from a rocky ledge. Its soft juvenile plumage and not yet fully developed feathers are clearly visible. The powerful talons are extended forward, ready for landing or grasping. The pale, rugged rock face in the background highlights the natural habitat of this impressive owl species.

My workweek is done. Three 12 hour shifts completed. Hooray! Hopefully tomorrow I can get some more bird shots. I saw a Pine Warbler at work, but I refuse to go back up there on my days off lol.

Ein Prachttaucher (Gavia arctica) schwimmt auf ruhigem, tiefblauem Wasser. Das Licht betont das fein gemusterte Gefieder des Vogels und die klaren Konturen seines Kopfes und Schnabels. Diese Art ist in Baden-Württemberg ein sehr seltener Durchzügler, der nur gelegentlich während des Vogelzugs auftritt. Das Foto fängt die seltene Gelegenheit ein, einen dieser eleganten Taucher in den Binnengewässern der Region zu beobachten.

A Black-throated Diver (Gavia arctica) glides across calm, deep-blue water. The lighting highlights the bird’s finely patterned plumage and the clean lines of its head and bill. This species is a very rare migratory visitor in Baden-Württemberg, appearing only occasionally during migration. The image captures a rare moment to see one of these elegant divers on the region’s inland waters.

The local #Galah community were very hungry today - I just put out the food for the #Birds and they flew down to eat before I had even started to climb the stairs.
