We have lift off!
This grey heron was out in the field next door to our house, presumably looking for lizards, other reptiles, and possibly amphibians. I think it must have heard my shutter, as it took off pretty sharply, although we're talking C-130 transporter take-off rather than Rafale fighter jet.

This poor wee beastie mistook the glass of our living room window for an open flight path, and was stunned for about half an hour. While it was recovering, my wife put out some water, just in case, but in the end it just flew off without going near it.
