My thesis is finally not only handed in and graded but also in our universities thesis repository 🎉

Implementation of a simulation study to evaluate the performance characteristics of statistical methods for analysis of time to event data under non-proportional hazards

The test reports the probability that a randomly selected value from one list would be larger than a randomly selected one from the second list. This is best reported as concordance probability.

If the samples are of the same size the subtraction is not doing much other than standardizing reporting

When the samples are of different sizes, it controls for the advantage that the larger sample will have, because sum of ranks depends on number of samples. #stats #biostat

I strongly agree with their final point: "...the quality of the whole study design and its execution, including its assumptions and data collection approaches, is likely more important to the inferences one can make than the analytical approach itself." #bayesian #frequentist #stats #biostat

#introduction

Hi I'm Jon, my job is to work with data from studies that follow families over time (cohorts) to figure out what we need to do for child and family health and well-being.

My passion in this is to get both researcher and knowledge users to use data and analyses properly, including ideological blind spots like the pitfalls of over-interpreting molecular data (even when it's not genetics) or how research needs to move beyond blaming moms for the success of their kids

I am also a dad of two young kids and thus have no additional hobbies other than being online 😅

So where's the #stats #biostat and #rstats people on here?
