To better understand the role of #bacteria in the stomach, researchers collected #biopsies from patients with #autoimmune gastritis, both with and without #neuroendocrine #tumors, and compared their #microbial communities.

Changes in gut microbiota influence which patients get AIG-related neuroendocrine tumors

Researchers found how changes in gut microbiota influence stomach health and even the growth of neuroendocrine tumors in autoimmune gastritis patients

Yesterday was a pretty mixed bag. We got a call from the #Surgical #Oncologist confirming that the two #biopsies were #cancerous which wasn’t surprising, but was still hard to hear.

Later that evening, our son (who lives just around the corner) came over to see us (but mostly Sami, who’s his birth mom), and after some talking, we watched a #movie he hadn’t seen before - #GhostInTheShell 🤖. We had a lot of great #discussions after that. All in all, a good night. 💤

Thank you all for your kind words the other day. I managed to get through the fasting and the prep, do my presentation, and then I had the #colonoscopy. They did have to do some #biopsies, so I'm still waiting on that, and due to my #Cancer history, they want me to come back in 3 years (le sigh), but everything else went as well as could be expected, except I got stuck 4 times (dehydration and shitty veins). Appreciate you all!

#Biopsies have been performed the same way since the 19th century, but new #technology could enable point-of-care skin #cancer diagnosis.

Known as liquid #biopsies, these blood tests could help physicians better treat their patients by allowing them to see which treatments are working in real time without the need for repeated, invasive biopsies of solid #tumors.
