🌟 @SYLVAbioaerosol takes the Spotlight in Stockholm! 🌟
The EUMETNET AutoPollen Annual Meeting is underway in beautiful #Stockholm, and SYLVA had a starring role on Day 1!
Our innovative contributions to #bioaerosol research and automated #pollen monitoring were front and centre, sparking exciting discussions among experts and stakeholders. It’s inspiring to see how SYLVA’s work is shaping the future of environmental science!
In collaboration with the Finnish Environment Institute's #SPORELIFE project, @SYLVAbioaerosol has collected fruit bodies from 57 different forest fungi for spore imaging and #DNA sequencing using our SwisensPoleno Jupiter.
Leveraging the Swisens AG Atomizer and a custom-built measurement chamber, we successfully sampled 30 fungi, with results far exceeding our expectations! All collected data will be shared on the SYLVA Data Portal soon! 🧫 🧬
Did you know that @SYLVAbioaerosol offers digital reference datasets for #pollen and fungal spores?
These datasets are crucial for the calibration and validation of cutting-edge #bioaerosol monitoring technologies developed within SYLVA and beyond.

🎉 @SYLVAbioaerosol Data Portal is live! Access connected devices, download historical data since incorporation, track real-time algorithms, and get free expert-approved datasets for BAA500 & Poleno.
Big Friday news from SYLVA! In mid-August, our project partner Helmut Hund GmbH installed the Northern-Pilot Pollen Monitor POMO® BAA500 in the heart of the Pallas Yllästunturi National Park in 🇫🇮 , as part of the @SYLVAbioaerosol project.
They also reported that #fungal spores were sampled right after the POMO® BAA500 was set into operation at the Pallas station! 🎉

Did you know that #pollen generates strong depolarisation signals that can detect the presence of #bioaerosol in air? SYLVA’s lidar systems do that during pollen season in Kuopio 🇫🇮 , Hopenpeissenberg 🇩🇪 , Granada 🇪🇸 , and Potenza 🇮🇹 .
The 📷 shows an example of 4 days of observations at Kuopio: From top is pollen conc. from Burkard sampler at the ground level, birch pollen conc. from FMI's SILAM pollen emission model, volume depolarization ratio from PollyXT lidar.
We're so glad to see so many of you attending the presentations of @SYLVAbioaerosol coordinator Mikhail Sofiev from the Finnish Meteorological Institute and Carmen Galán Soldevilla from the Universidad de Córdoba at the World Aerobiology 2024 this week!
Enjoy the last days of the conference!
