The songs from High Society are SUCH a mixed bag.
Louis Armstrong makes everything he touches gold.
Frank's two ballads, "You're Sensational" and "Mind If I Make Love To You" are insufferably insipid, and frankly I don't know how the second got past the Hays Code.
"True Love" has an exquisitely delicious melody, but the lyrics are saccharine and meh.
"Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" puts a grin on your face, and "Did You Ever" is unquestionably the show-stopper.
"Now You Have (Has?) Jazz" is an ACTUAL BOP and Bing is adorably fun but also impossibly square.
If he wasn't so damn American, Bing Crosby would have made a good cinematic Lord Peter Wimsey.
But it's still the damn cryingest shame in the world that Leslie Howard didn't get to play Lord Peter.
