It looks like IcelandAir removed Hekla Aurora #TFFIU from service early. It didn't fly at all Friday, after being pulled from Flight 665 to Portland PDX. Saturday is the only day remaining before the Sunday retirement event, a sold-out sightseeing flight originating from and returning to Reykjavik's Domestic Airport #RKV / #BIRK in downtown. #Avgeek alert: Icelandair flew their 757-200 special livery "Vatnajökull" from Reykjavik #KEF / #BIKF today on a ferry flight number to Kansas City #MCI / #KMCI. The airframe TF-FIR doesn't have a return flight scheduled. All of Icelandair's 757s are planned for retirement by Spring 2026. So it may have been retired or sold. But MCI isn't a boneyard. Planespotting from home this evening: IcelandAir's "Vatnajökull" 757-200 (named for Iceland's largest glacier) arriving at Portland Int'l Airport #PDX / #KPDX from Reykjavik's Keflavik Int'l Airport #KEF / #BIKF. All of IcelandAir's 757s are scheduled to be retired by 2026. So I've been trying to catch each of the two with special liveries when I can. Portland is the longest route currently flown by IcelandAir, and so almost always gets a 757. #aviation #travel #avgeek #PNW
