#bikenite I have figured otu that clicking on Phil's profile in Mastodon means I can scroll through the questions as they happen, as opposed to just following the hashtag. Then I can do the hashtag to make sure I"m reaidn g all the replies.

We've got our Bike Project where they do that stuff.
Our Trek place once did some stuff like that but the owner retired. I honestly don't think the new owners will stick around; they've kinda not endeared themselves to many former regular customers. That said, every bike shop annoys a who;le group of people, usually for something petty, so ... people shop around.

* GoPro - type can take pics/video on trips. Drawbacks and benefits, obviously.
* Phone. Hands down it is best price-for-quality instant-on device. Sorry, it just is. If you want geeky photo control, that is also possible with some devices using alternative software. You will need to do your research on that, though, before you buy.

A3. My limited use of AI to date is to point it at things that I have written about bikes and bike rides. I log my rides in Obsidian if they are notable and asked it to summarize.

I just did this, and it correctly inferred from a small hint that the Border to Border Trail here is a good place for easy paved miles - that is not something that should need gallons of water to infer, but it does mean that my written notes are consistent with experience.

I would try to chat up cycling community at your destination and get a bike when you are there, one that will be a good match for you. Then ... hey, if you bought a bike from a place, they would ship it to you, right?
Or see if somebody has a N + 1 in their garage that would be a match...
