@geonz @ascentale @bikenite I don't begrudge the Lycra guys, even though it's not my mode of cycling.

But I was in a conference that kept me busy all week so most of what I know about cycle culture here is who's cycling past my window. It's easier to think of Lycra dudes as a "club" than other groupings that aren't wearing uniforms.

Mostly, it's been various couples, singles, and small families cycling by the window. #BikeNite

@meganL @ascentale @bikenite #bikenite gotcha ;) I feel your yearning!
We have the lycra folks but also others who know a comfortable bike isn't as fast but you don't need special clothes to keep it from hurting you.

@geonz @ascentale @bikenite If I were staying here longer, I'd investigate. But unless I can find affordable and flexible change sto make, I'm leaving on a train tomorrow.

I saw a buncha dudes in Lycra go by this morning so at least a few of the folks here seem to embrace that kind of club/group of friends. #BikeNite

@evan

OK, I have followed @_followback, so now the #Hashtags I use will be more widely distributed, to anyone who follows @Hashtags rather than just distributed those instances who happen to have someone who follows me.

And I have followed @bikenite so now I should be getting more #BikeNite messages, rather than just those that happen to come to my instance for other people on this instance.

@ascentale @bikenite A8.There are fewer cyclists in València than you'd think, given the good infrastructure. Or maybe it's that there's a surprising amount of drivers.

But lots of folks ride. They've got micromobility bike rentals as well as bike rental shops. I spotted this on the way somewhere and thought it might be for food delivery, but despite the rustic look of the crate, it's for a bike rental and touring business.

@ascentale @skyfaller @bikenite A7. I don't have kids, nor do I take care of some, but I would probably add the proverbial pool noodle to any other precautions you're taking.

There does seem to be some psychological effect they have and I think most non-homicidal drivers give some extra room due to a horizontal pool noodle strapped appropriately. #BikeNite

@Cyclist @ascentale @bikenite Honestly, that is the major reason I had to retire from riding my Bridgestone MB-3 Xtracycle. Even then, I lived in hope of rehabililtating myself right up to when I had to move and couldn't take it with me...

Great longbike and they don't make 'em like that anymore. #BikeNite

@ascentale @skyfaller @bikenite A3. I've never used one. To be fair, I'm not often on group rides. But when my family was touring, we didn't really have any way other than riding side-by-side or waiting around until we caught up with each other.

However, you've made me wonder how hard/easy it is for sign language users to communicate on upright bikes...

Up to a point, sign language is a great way to communicate at a distance.

@ascentale @Cyclist @bikenite A2. Good steel frame bike? Never retire it!

The only reason not to ride it would be if you have a part that breaks that is truly irreplaceable or if one of *your* parts breaks. #BikeNite

@ascentale @bikenite A1. València, Spain

I very badly want to ride here. WONDERFUL town for cycle riding, so far as I can see. At least compared to what I'm used to. Many protected cycle lanes and even when it's not protected, the driving seems a bit more orderly.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to replace my recumbent yet and the micromobiilty bikes require an app (I suspect my ass is not prepared for upright riding again).
