Exactly! I had someone in my IG comments asking if I would want an elder relative's hospital transport delayed by these new, parking-protected #bikelanes that are proposed for Astoria.

I pointed out that the bike lanes are designed to be 8 ft wide with a 3 ft buffer, and FDNY ambulances are 8 ft wide.

No response.

@TheOverheadWire Additionally, #NYCDOT will be installing bike lanes (#bikeLanes) on West 72nd Street and there are many naysayers with many theories. Of course, those of us supporting the modification have countering theories based on recent similar modifications and recent crashes. #Insurance would be a way to put a value on those theories.
