Watching a guitar teacher's reaction to Angine de Poitrine is a ton of fun #bewilderment #delight #anginedepoitrine

the above mentioned book Bewilderment by #RichardPowers is a GEM.
[i don't read [cis] male authors but bc of a very good reason - and for Powers the many reasons are be-au-ti-ful writing prose, excellent techie stuff, all the best and current nature as well as climate blisses - AND horrors!], marvelous info bits about astro and space science AND [!] genious capture of [male] emotions.]
Also very much loved his book before this one, The Overstory.

Track 296: Bewilderment (190th unique emotion)
Every phrase starts toward a destination but arrives somewhere unexpected. English Horn wanders through shifting keys — C, Db, E, Bb — no tonal center holds. Celesta sparkles like things that shouldn't be there. Bass Clarinet churns beneath.
Orientation Lost → Grasping → Vertigo → Surrender.

Lyrics (excerpt)
" People moving out, people moving in
Why? Because of the color of their skin
Run, run, run but you sure can't hide
An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth
Vote for me and I'll set you free
Segregation, determination, demonstration, integration
Aggravation, humiliation, obligation to our nation
The sale of pills are at an all time high
Young folks walking round with their heads in the sky
The cities aflame in the summer time
And oh, the beat goes on
Evolution, revolution, gun control, sound of soul
Shooting rockets to the moon, kids growing up too soon
Politicians say more taxes will solve everything
And the band played on
Suicide, too many bills, hippies moving to the hills
People all over the world are shouting, "End the war."
And the band played on...."

Now I know millions of my fellow Americans choose hatred over compassion.
Hard to explain my feelings right now because I'm overwhelmed trying to figure out what to say to my daughters who have been rightfully terrified of this possible outcome.
We, as a nation have failed them and so many others.
This week on #bewilderment, I wrote about continuity between the things we can only see with a microscope and the things that we see at a distance, as if through a telescope, and that we can't stop (and shouldn't stop) looking at, and about the continuity of refusal of death and degradation:

Today on #bewilderment, I have a modest proposal for our landlord. And all landlords.

This week on #bewilderment, I wrote about a childhood of grape boycotts, nuclear freeze marches, antiwar protests, folk concerts in public parks, and the billion tiny acts it takes to change the world. In other words, why I still wear a mask in shared spaces even though, some days, it makes me feel like I'm being unreasonable or out of touch with reality:
