Almost 5 years ago now I was invited to the Speaker’s House; I was standing in awe under a wonderful, inspiring painting of Betty Boothroyd, remembering the times I sat in front of the TV as a child, not being able to stop listening to her speak when I saw clips of her being played on the news.
