What struck me in this BBC obituary for composer Jim Parker was the need to describe who Sir John Betjeman was, and that the descriptions were 'writer Sir John Betjeman' (first reference) and 'The composer released four music albums with Sir John, an English poet and writer,...' (second reference).

Is it really the case that no one today knows who Betjeman was? Yes, he died nearly 40 years ago, but as Poet Laureate he had a rather ubiquitous media presence.
