#Magnolia × soulangeana (Magnolia denudata × Magnolia liliiflora), the saucer magnolia or sometimes the tulip tree, is displaying majestically here in south east Melbourne!

This one has beautiful blooming flowers in various shades of white, pink, and purple.

Isn’t this bloom just delicious?

Well, hopefully they signal delish fruit to come… as my ID app tells me this is #peach (Prunus persica).

It is a deciduous tree, apparently first domesticated in Zhejiang province of Eastern China.

It will (hopefully!) produce edible juicy peaches (the glossy-skinned, non-fuzzy varieties)… the birds are going to have a ball with this one, when the time comes!

#Strelitzia is a genus of five species of perennial plants, native to South Africa.

In South Africa, it is commonly known as the #CraneFlower.

#Banks’ #grevillea flowering clusters are rustic, unkempt and straggly. But I love ‘em.

They’re colourful, unique and oh so aussie.

Endemic to Queensland, they grow prolifically here in Melbourne. And they are a visual delight to behold. They make my heart sing.

#VeronicaSalicifolia, aka the #koromiko, is found throughout the South Island of New Zealand and in Chile.

It is a large, evergreen shrub, reaching 2 m in height, with light-green, spear-shaped leaves that are up to 12 cm long, and pale lilac flowers. I’ve noticed some come in white inflorescence as well.

I loved discovering these.

What a delightful #azalea!

I love it’s two toned colours of white and pink.

#Azaleas normally bloom in the spring (October and November in the Southern Hemisphere) and their flowers often lasting several weeks. I have a seen a few come out, way earlier this year.

Blooming time is April and May in the Northern Hemisphere.

They’re shade tolerant and prefer living near or under trees. They are part of the family Ericaceae.

Delicate, yet quite a robust, sturdy flower.

#CamelliaSasanqua, with the common name sasanqua #camellia, it is a species native to China and Japan.

It is usually found growing in high altitudes, but does very well in #melbourne conditions indeed.

As a kid I recall the couple of camellias that grew prominently in our family garden and flowered prolifically this time of year, as tended to, so lovingly by my mum.

The bright yellow anther and filaments on these ones are particularly beautiful.

So too, the striking pinks of their flowering petals.

Nature at its best.

Some roses hang about for such a long time, if not picked and vased.
