Unfortunately, the weather yesterday was rather poor, & I was two months too late for the perfect sunset at the Bentenjima Tori.
In December & January, the sun sets directly inside the Tori.
Nevertheless, I had a lovely day and simply relaxed there for a while.
This place at Bentenjima is the last connection between the sea & lake Hamana.
During the high tide the Tori stands in the sea while during low tide you can see that it's on a small island.

沖午前神社に参拝する方。2月の出雲は最高だったけど、いつか神在月の時に出雲大社と沖午前神社に参拝したいです。

The whole area of Izumo is so fascinating because it is of great significance to the mythological beginnings of Japan. It is where the country was handed to the kami of the sun, Amaterasu-Omikami according to the Kojiki. For this, all kami came to Izumo and it is said that they have been coming back for one month every year. This month is called kamiari-zuki (month of the residence of the kami) in the Izumo region and kanna-zuki (month of the absence of the gods) everywhere else in Japan.
