Quando il ministro della Giustizia cita come modello il Codice Rocco, non compie soltanto un'operazione storicamente discutibile. Rivela una pericolosa normalizzazione dell'eredità giuridica del fascismo «Il libro più importante per …

#BenitoMussolini created the word #fascism he defined it as 'the merging of the STATE and the CORPORATION. He also said a more ACCURATE word would be #corporatism. This WAS the definition in #Webster's up until 1987 when a #corporation bought it and CHANGED it to exclude ANY mention of #corporations

Benito Mussolini’s robust constitution and Italo Balbo’s councils

For over a century, American magazines have entertained readers with fun anecdotes about celebrities: agencies invent them for the witty gossip columnists. If you feel the need to find a bit of cheer in these dark times with tasty anecdotes written in the American style, here you are.

In the 1950s and 60s, Giulio Scarnicci and Renzo Tarabusi wrote together magazines, TV programs and films for some of the most famous comedians of the time. Their British-style humor was particularly well-suited to actors like Tognazzi, Vianello, Chiari, Rascel and Dapporto. A good example is this skit from the Rai variety show Un due tre. An old woman (Vianello) stops a boy running at full speed down the street (Tognazzi): “Where are you going?” “To the doctor. My grandfather is sick.” “No way. Go home and tell your grandfather it’s nothing. He always thinks he’s sick: it’s just an impression!” Caption: “Three days later.” The encounter repeats. VIANELLO: “Is your grandfather better?” TOGNAZZI: “Yes, he’s doing great. But he’s gotten it into his head that he’s dead and we’re burying him tomorrow.”

Or this one, from the TV program Sarò breve (1957). LAURETTA MASIERO: “You promised you’d quit drinking. What are all these empty bottles in the closet?” TOGNAZZI: “I don’t know!” MASIERO: “If you don’t know…” TOGNAZZI: “Don’t you seem like someone who enjoys buying empty bottles?”

Paolo Panelli in an interview with Oggi: “My wife and I never talk about sex. What’s done is done.”

Benito Mussolini’s robust constitution had triumphed over a near poisoning that had put his life in danger. Italo Balbo, who had gone to inquire about the illustrious patient, was astonished to find him standing, while foreign newspapers announced that he was in a coma. “How come I find you so well, while this morning the foreign newspapers say you’re in a coma?” “You have to forgive me,” replied Mussolini “but I haven’t read the foreign newspapers yet.”

Alberto Savinio, Giorgio De Chirico’s brother, read an advertisement for a drawing school in a magazine that stated: “If you can write, you can draw.” He therefore decided to attend the school’s lessons: it guaranteed success for anyone. After two years of assiduous attendance, Savinio, doubting his progress, went to the school director to protest, demanding a refund. The director asked him: “Excuse me, but who are you?” “I am Alberto Savinio.” “Savinio, Savinio” repeated the director. “That name is familiar to me. You are a writer, I presume. Am I right?” “Yes, I’m a novelist,” protested the man of letters. The director had a flash of memory: “Ah yes, that’s right. You’re the author of Hermafrodito. Right?” “Yes, I’m a novelist,” protested the man of letters. The director had a flash of memory: “Ah yes, that’s right. You’re the author of Hermafrodito. Right?”

One evening, Giorgio Albertazzi found himself in a Roman living room full of admirers. After talking about his latest theatrical performance, he was distracted by the waiter, while the ladies continued to converse. One of them, at some point, said: “The theater is in crisis. Yesterday I was looking in the program bulletin, but there wasn’t one that attracted me. So, discouraged, I resigned myself to going to bed.” And Albertazzi, to everyone’s surprise, taking a tart, “Was there anyone there?”
