I have a lot to say about this process. And it's kinda interesting to make work in deep meditation state letting things happen, channeling another creature. Then I can't hardly image edit the work as it makes my teeth itch. It's like looking at the holes on the side edge of a crisp bread. It makes me coil up and my teeth curl. The Nose Parade. Each nose holds a secret smell that can be exchanged with ampoules by lifting the top lid.
For the noses I am making a magic cupboard in hand carved wood. This school have kids who can communicate only through smells. So I decided to make a little art work where the teachers can combine teaching about art through sculptures and smells and some will also have sounds.

I fixed my lovely wool jumper knitted by my cousin from yarn in wool her late mother coloured with leaves and mushrooms in the early eighties. I use it a lot as I carry them with me through this jumper. I got a hole on the elbow and used wool that I needle felted an eye from. The eye can now look backwards behind me. And yes I did make the eye blood strained 👀

I will share some public works I've been doing since 2020 the start of COVID until now. The Eye #👁️ has been a protagonist in my work for a long time. Ive especially been interested in the eye of Horus from Egyptian culture but also on a pure ocular level. The eye has many connotations in different cultures. For me it's not about the 'all seeing eye' but the idea is more introverted where the surface becomes inert, a visual object illuminating backwards into the soft darkness. This work #blickfång #eyecatcher is a public piece as a lamppost where I created a flirting eye that is at dusk ignited by a led light changing the colour from blue, green, yellow, red. #📸 @SaraAppelgren The other piece is a wall based piece called the Eye and was first made for a show in Tasmania at #privateprojects. It was later shown at #galerievangelder in #amsterdam as part of my solo show 'new moons and old bones' 2019/20. So yes, these were born into COVID times just before lockdown everywhere.
