Hey #psychology #emotionalawareness #BehavioralPsychology
I am prone to intense emotional transport when reading/watching media (and often times, when something else reminds me of said media). Pretty sure I also did maladaptive daydreaming as a child (and still do, but much more regulated). Often end up crying (due to in fiction pain/trauma) as a result.
I came across #cbt and #dialecticalbehaviourtherapy and have so far devised the following to ground me and calm myself:
- name 5 things you see
- name 4 you can touch
- name 3 you can hear
- name 2 you can smell
- name 1 you can taste
- slow breathe for minute
- write down your emotions
- write down the triggers
- write arguments for why you should/shouldn't feel that way
Any suggestions? I'd like to see shorter/effective routines
