Managed to get some shots with the head exposed, it's that tiny little muppet-like thing in the front.
Everybody takes photos of the dorsal view, but these creatures look so mindblowingly insane from the side.

Last night Mrs Ratcatcher was rudely awakened by this beetle landing on her cheek. It then flew around the room for a bit (by which time I was, of course, awake, too). Then it settled down for the night (as did we, eventually).
This morning it was sitting on the net curtain so we captured, photographed and liberated it.
Saw this devil's coach horse beetle on the way home today. I've never pissed one off before, so was first time seeing this rather striking pose. I guess the mood is understandable as it might be a busy night for them. Rubbish photo since it was dark and raining.

This thing apparently flew in through the open window, and flew full boogie into my noggin... πͺ² ...whereupon I leapt out of my chair, screaming like a little girl.
I didn't know I could move that fast, or squeal in such a high pitch. π
