@IngaLovinde @lnl Also somehow I remember a thing where grey and gray are different shades but it's not CSS named colors…
So I guess it was X11 color names having gray being #BEBEBE and (web) grey being #808080.

@shadowsminder I looked at it with my 54-year-old eyes and had no trouble whatsoever (on Firefox on Windows 10 on desktop). Then I pulled out an eyedropper tool to check the lightest background pixels I could find, and found a color of #bebebe, and checked that background and the foreground of #000000 with a color contrast checker (https://webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/) and got a value of 11.29:1, which handily beats the WCAG standard of 4.5:1. You're fine!
