Just over 4,000 Santas (including me!) assembled at Glasgow Green this morning for the 2025 Santa Dash. This 5k run was being done in aid of the Beatson Cancer Charity. In 1912, a research department was added to the hospital, making it one of the oldest comprehensive cancer centres in the world. The Beatson continues its work today, mostly at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre on the grounds of Gartnavel Hospital in the west of the city.

The former Beatson Hospital on Hill Street in the Garnethill area of Glasgow. One of the first hospitals in the world solely dedicated to treating cancer patients, the Beatson opened at a site on Saint Vincent Street in 1886. It moved to Hill Street in 1890, and expanded into this neighbouring building in 1896.
