Across the map of the USA, #bbqsauce is stratified in 3 geographic bands running NE-SW. The first encompasses South Carolina and parts of Georgia, where bbq sauce is mustard-based as God intended. Some stores around here sell something they call “Carolina Gold,” which isn’t great but will give you an idea. The next band covers most of North Carolina and into Tennessee, and it is vinegar based. It is an abomination, and we do not speak of it.
