AGI - È stato arrestato un uomo sospettato di aver avvelenato dei vasetti di omogeneizzati con topicida, presumibilmente per ricattare HiPP, l'azienda tedesca che li produce. Lo riporta l'agenzia di stampa austriaca APA.
Secondo la polizia regionale del Burgenland, il sospettato ha 39 anni. La sua identità non è stata ancora resa nota. La polizia non ha specificato il luogo dell'arresto. L'uomo è accusato di aver messo in pericolo la pubblica sicurezza e di tentato omicidio aggravato. Anche le autorità tedesche stanno indagando sul caso.
Cinque vasetti contaminati tra Austria e Repubblica Ceca
Secondo la polizia bavarese, che coordina le indagini, cinque vasetti di cibo avvelenato sono stati ritrovati prima che potessero essere consumati in Austria, Repubblica Ceca e Slovacchia. Un vasetto acquistato in un supermercato Spar a Eisenstadt, capoluogo del Burgenland, è stato ritrovato il 18 aprile. Conteneva 15 microgrammi di veleno per topi.
Il richiamo dei prodotti e l'allerta per un vasetto disperso
A metà aprile, HiPP ha emesso un richiamo precauzionale di vasetti potenzialmente contaminati in Austria. L'allerta riguardava principalmente un vasetto da 190 grammi di "purea di carote e patate". Un altro vasetto, venduto nello stesso punto vendita e sospettato di essere contaminato con veleno per topi, non e' stato ancora ritrovato.

HiPP Poisoner Arrested: He was putting thiodicarb in the jars

A man has been arrested on suspicion of poisoning jars of baby food with rodenticides, allegedly to blackmail HiPP, the German company that produces them. This was reported by the Austrian news agency APA.

According to the Burgenland regional police, the suspect is 39 years old. His identity has not yet been disclosed. The police have not specified the location of the arrest. The man is accused of endangering public safety and attempted aggravated murder. German authorities are also investigating the case.

Five contaminated jars found in Austria and the Czech Republic

According to the Bavarian police, which is coordinating the investigation, five jars of poisoned food were found before they could be consumed in Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. A jar purchased at a Spar supermarket in Eisenstadt, the capital of Burgenland, was found on April 18th. It contained 15 micrograms of mouse poison.
