Pamela SchureRough day for #dutch relatives. My oldest aunt is in hospital. She was visited by my youngest aunt who has early onset #dementia and an uncle who is having age related issues and then fell trying to ride a #bike
1. They all knew who I was and spoke English
2. I showed my aunt her #batiks on my walls and she recognizes them. I think she did one in the 60s!
3. This may be the last time I speak with her - and she’s so far away.
Huge thanks to my cousin who orchestrated the whole thing. He then detoured with mobile aunt and uncle to visit another aunt and uncle nearby.
FYI, this is a huge Catholic family from the south of the Netherlands. Anyone joining the family struggles with the sheer number of people to remember. I won’t subject you to that.
