#Explosions were reported on two foreign #oiltankers in the #PersianGulf near the port of #Basra.
The head of the General Company for Iraqi ports says it has rescued 38 crew members from the vessels, and one person has died, in comments cited by the Iraqi news agency.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
Ship tracking websites show the two tankers suspected of being attacked surrounded by rescue boats.

LA NOTIZIA: Iran, la guerra si allarga: blackout ed esplosioni in Iraq
Il conflitto rischia di estendersi. Il nuovo fronte sembra essere quello dell’Iraq, con il Paese in completo blackout. La rete elettrica si è fermata in tutte le province irachene, comunica il ministro dell’Energia annunciando il blackout totale in tutto il Paese. Al Jazeera, inoltre, riferisce di diverse esplosioni che sarebbero state avvertite vicino all’aeroporto di Baghdad e alla base americana nella stessa Baghdad e a Erbil.
Al momento non sono note le cause del blackout, che il ministero sta tentando di individuare. Intanto si lavora al ripristino delle centrali elettriche e delle linee di trasmissione. Poche notizie anche sulle esplosioni avvertite nelle città irachene.
Esplosioni e droni abbattuti in Iraq
Afp riferisce che due droni sono stati abbattuti nei pressi dell’aeroporto di Baghdad, a poche ore di distanza da un attacco simile nella stessa struttura. Non si registrano vittime o danni materiali. L’aeroporto comprende anche una base militare e una sede diplomatica statunitensi.
La situazione in Iraq era già complicata negli scorsi giorni, con le interruzioni di corrente che avevano già colpito la regione semi-autonoma curda dopo l’interruzione delle operazioni in un importante giacimento di gas per motivi di sicurezza. Ieri il ministero del petrolio iracheno aveva annunciato l’interruzione della produzione in un importante giacimento vicino Bassora a causa della carenza di petrolifere nel Golfo Persico.
L’ambasciata Usa invita a lasciare subito il Paese
La situazione in Iraq desta preoccupazione, considerando che le sirene di allarme sono state udite anche nell’edificio dell’ambasciata Usa a Baghdad. E proprio l’ambasciata statunitense si è rivolta ai cittadini chiedendo di lasciare immediata l’Iraq.
“I cittadini statunitensi in Iraq sono vivamente incoraggiati a partire non appena saranno in grado di farlo in sicurezza e a rimanere in casa finché le condizioni non saranno sicure per la partenza”, è il messaggio riportato su X. L’invito è di lasciare il Paese subito nel caso in cui ci siano condizioni sicure per farlo.
