Meanwhile in Ireland, a cultural Basic Income (focussed on artists) has moved from pilot to sustained policy, with the confirmation of an ongoing programme of awarding 2,000 artists €18k per annum. Interestingly the cost of the programme was less than the benefits to the Irish economy, and the artists in receipt of funds were able to switch earnings from non-art activities to work related to their art practice.
